Virgin America’s 6 Hour Pre-Roll Ad

Yup, you read that right. In the land of 6 second Vine videos, Virgin American debuted their nearly SIX HOUR YouTube pre-roll video titled “Have you been flying BLAH Airlines?” to demonstrate how boring and, well, blah, it is to fly with anyone else. In the form of a real-time 5 hour and 45 minute flight. With creepy dolls. And other oddities.

“The passengers have no choice but to be on ‘autopilot’ to get through the tedious journey,” says Virgin. “Just trying to watch the video is downright painful—and that’s the point. If you wouldn’t sit through the entire film, why would you pay money to experience it in real life?”

Cool stunt but with cool strategy behind it. You don’t have to watch the whole thing but I highly recommend clicking through to see some of the weirdness – with bits contributed by 5 different creative teams. The whole thing can be described as boring, odd, blah, creepy, and brilliant.
